Sept. 5 - 11, 2008

Hope everyone is having a terrific week!!

Hasn't been to busy around here lately. Scallop season ended Sept. 10th,

however I think all the rain that  Tropical Storm Fay brought us pushed em' out two

weeks ago. So needless to say we haven't had any reports on gettin' scallops

lately. Although fishing is not at its best right now, we did manage to get a couple

reports in.

Otto Hough caught a couple of keeper grouper South of the Aucilla near some

inshore rock piles.

Bill Bramblett fished out of St. Marks, and landed a 23'' Red, using live shrimp

under a Cajun Thunder. Bill said the water is still real stained from the Tropical

Storm, but it hasn't stopped the fish from bitin'!!

Hope everyone is doing well...

Not many reports have been given this week. The weather just hasn't been cooperating. The water has been pretty murky the past couple of days.

Cobia have been reported seen around Shell Point, right off the bank. An angler reported catching a 33 incher, while fishing off the bank, using cut mullet.

Scott Andersen & Will Tomlinson fished out of the Aucilla and brought back a couple of good lookin' cobia.

Hopefully this weekend, we'll be blessed with some good fishin' weather.

REMEMBER: Redfish Tournament  - Saturday, August 16, 2008. The tournament is open to anyone. The fee is $50 per team (two person team).

Hope everyone had a great week.....

Got a few reports.....

John and I fished around Piney Island on Sunday and caught a few small Reds, no keepers, but it was still fun to get out and actually do a little fishin'.

Also, we've had a couple of guys fish the Ochlockonee River, using peeled shrimp, and caught several keeper Reds.

Captain Eric Keyser fished the Aucilla last weekend, using top water plugs, and he said the fishery is HOTT out there. Him and a buddy ended up catching 10 or so Reds, that were over 24'' and a number of nice trout.

From what I understand, there is some kind of Bacteria in the Apalachee Bay area water. I understand that this bacteria is NOT affecting the fish; however they are advising everyone to "stay out of the saltwater."

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Here's a few reports that were told to me:

Wesley fished out of St. Marks yesterday and caught a 27'' Red, 4 trout, & 10 Flounder.

William Bennett fished near the St. Marks lighthouse and landed a 24'' Red, 1 legal trout, & a flounder, all on New Penny Gulp.

Mo & Dawn Lavigne fished off the bank of the St. Marks River, and caught several Sheepshead & a Redfish. Mo also fished the Ochlockonee River & landed a 24'' catfish.

John & I took off around 5:00 yesterday afternoon, to do a little fishin'. We decided to go to Dickerson Bay. So we launched the boat, it was a little windy, but nothing to complain about. John found a pretty deep hole, so he threw out a gold spoon, and got nothing, tried a New Penny Gulp, still nothing. He then put a fresh dead shrimp on his hook...& bam, pulled in a nice 17'' trout. I guess I wasn't holding my mouth right, because I couldn't even get a bite, so I gave up. He ended up catching 3 more legal trout, a little over 15". So it was a pretty nice afternoon!!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!!

February 9 - 15, 2008

It seems we've had some good fishing weather this week, a little windy but managable.
North Florida Gulf Fishing Club held a redfish tournament this past weekend at Jerry's. They had an excellant turn out with 29 boats entering. One of their largest turnouts!! Way to go guys.

We got a couple reports of catching Redfish and trout in the Bald Point area and Alligator Harbor. Jeff Suber and a friend landed over 35 Reds. The biggest caught was 30'' long. It seems Captain Mike Spoons are the ticket to catching Reds. Suber used 1/4 Gold Spoon with a pink sticker. Work the spoon back and at a medium pace.
Another good bait to use is the Gulp 3'' shrimp on a jig head. 6 come in a package, most anglers only use 2 per trip.
